In previous years we have changed the billing address of our Canadian Mastercard to our USA address for the duration of our stay here. That gives us a ZIP code. It has worked everywhere.
THIS year, some gas stations will not accept our ZIP. After a couple of calls to Mastercard, we've given up trying. Card works for online purchases and all (non-gas) stores even when they want a zip.
Postal code digits + 00 works in many places on another card.
