Gettysburg campground

I am wanting to take my family to Gettysburg cg April 11-13 weekend. I have never been to this cg and am looking for advise on a decent site. I ahve a tt, 29ft, one slide, outdoor kitchen. I have 7 and 3 yr old little boys. Can anyone provide me with reviews and a site number they would recommend.
Thx in advance
  • there was a thread a few days ago on the subject

PS a search for the word Gettysburg would have found it for you
  • Yeah, i read that thread a few days ago when i did a searched, reviews are nice.
i was asking for a recommendation on a site number. Thanks for the info.
Can anyone suggest a site number?
  • Someone may come up with the specifics you're asking about. But in the meantime, we stayed in the area of blue-colored sites on the campground site map shown on their website, and it was very shady - since it was raining, a bit dark and cool in July - lots of tall trees.

April could be cooler and wet in that area, so you might want something less shady. It is a fairly big place, and those blue sites are a walk from the office, playground and other amenities up in that area. The ones closer to the office seemed to be more in the open.

I had the impression that some of the sites are booked long term, so that rules out some choices automatically if that proves true.

Another factor - You might (or might not with little ones) want to be along the creek and may want 50 amp.

I'd probably call them and talk over your needs if I were you.
  • when we went to Gettysburg last May we stayed @Artillary Ridge it was busy and almost fully booked due to rain that had flooded the camp ground near the river. Apparently it happens more than you'd think and from what we heard it happens quickly.
  • Yeah not sure if i want to stay close to the creek. I will just feel better knowing that my little ones cant just wonder off and be close to water that fast. Not that i dont watch them like a hawk butmthose with kids know you can look away to put wood in the fire and they are around the corner of the camper. I also worry about skeeters.
I think ill try one of the sites that back to the field and playground area.
They do look tight in that area, still looking for a good site number.
Im in south korea right now i pcs in nov, so the cg staff is sending me the available sites to choose from. Major brownie points if you ask me.
  • If you don't need sewer, #102 and 100 are nice sites with plenty of room for little kids to run around. I use the dump station on the way out.
I have been going there for Columbus Day Weekend for several years.
If you need sewer then I can't recommend a site.

The campground is very nice and the owner Bob Adams and his staff are always riding around taking care of things.

    Have fun.
  • We stay at Round top when we go to Gettysburg. Have stayed there 6 times.

    Looking at the site map:

Site 238 was which one we were at last. The "green sites" are in the woods - would be harder to park in.

We usually get an "orange site". Easier to get in and out.
