- DrbolaskyExplorerAgree with schlep1967 - it may be pretty tough getting a spot anywhere in a CG in the Gettysburg area. Our pick is Gettysburg CG. Nice place, clean, quiet and run by folks to take pride in their business. Yes, sites along the creek are really nice. Next would be the Gettysburg KOA - also very nice but we found the sites to be a bit snug.
We crossed Drummer Boy off of our list in 2007 after the corporate hyenas took over. Granite Hill - perhaps the only CG in which we were treated rudely by the staff. Have not stayed at Artillery Ridge or Round Top. Good luck, enjoy & safe travels. - spoon059Explorer IIGettysburg Campground is nice, especially if you can get a spot by the creek. The state parks in PA are very nice, if you don't require sewer hookups. Be advised though, they only offer some spots that are pet friendly... if that affects you.
- NCWriterExplorerWe stayed at Gettysburg Campground. Family friendly places with campsites either in a full-sun field, or with lots of shade by a creek (our choice.) Enjoyed it a lot, especially the PA-made Hershey Creamery Company ice cream cones dipped in the little cafe. Great for a cool-off treat after an intense day touring the battlefield.
All the campgrounds around there are pricey, by the way. To be expected in a high tourism area. - JoeHExplorer III

Hm, that state park sounds pretty neat! If, however, you prefer to stay closer in, I'd recommend the Gettysburg KOA. Very shady, which in summer is appreciated, and not muddy, as the CG is covered in river rock. (Caveat: if anyone with you has mobility issues, this will be a problem.) Clean, friendly (at least the year we stayed there) and fairly quiet, not on any major roads.
We stayed there a few years ago and found it to be a very nice park. At the time we had a 36ft MH with a toad and had no issues with the roads or site sizes. - TvovExplorer IIWe went to Artillery Ridge campground about 10 years ago and it was perfect, someone here may have an updated review of it. It is actually in the park - but Gettysburg National Battlefield is HUGE, includes the town and, well, everything in the area.
Most people get the CD self tour. Great way to see the park, as you go at your own pace. We made it interesting for our kids by looking for our own state monuments, and monuments of states where we'd been. We also watched the movie Gettysburg (1993) which was good as we then walked the real locations depicted in the movie. - At this point start calling every campground in the area. You will be lucky to find one with an opening. Take what you can get.

- RGar974417ExplorerYou said RV park so maybe you won't like my suggestion. Pine Grove Furnace State Park is about 20 miles northwest of Gettysburg. They have sites with electric hookups, new bath houses,a small store and 2 lakes for swimming with a brand new bath house snack bar at the one. There are water hydrants in each loop and a dump station. It is the half way point on the Appalachian trail. There is a former POW camp nearby. You can buy a book on it at the visitor center and there is a map if you want to take a self guided tour and see what's left.
