I've been in a few 55+ mobile home/RV parks in FL. Seems like in the winter, any of them would fit the bill for crafts. Find a place close to your grandkids and call to make sure.

Florida is a big state. Can you narrow it down? East, west?
South, central, north?

I think most parks in FL will have exactly what you're looking for. As mentioned check the area out near the grandkids and check out the parks in that area. Good Luck.

Craft fairs, flea markets, weekend art and craft shows abound in most of the cities and towns in my area. Most have a large show twice a year and yes there are many more throughout the area. Most of the larger parks have craft events also. My only advice is if you want warm weather then you want to be from Sarasota south.

While not knowing exactly where your grandkids are I would suggest a friendly little park in Sebring called Whispering Pines Village. We did a 3 night stay there last winter. We noticed that they have a very active clubhouse group. The "little old ladies" were busy with a group quilt while we were there and there were a lot of group activities planned. It was a nice place with very nice folks, but the crowd there was a bit older than we were. Maybe that's what you're looking for. Also, the monthly rate was low for that far south, $460 + electric and $410 + electric for a 2 month stay. There is a good sized RV area as well as some very well kept mobile homes.

Check out Holiday Travel Park in Leesburg, FL. My friends that are in their late 50's enjoy it there even though they are at the lower end of the age scale there.

We owned a condo in Sebring, that had been my parents. After renting it to the same couple during the winter for 4 years, we sold it to the renter's nephew. Sebring is to far away from "everything" we were interested in. We have a son and his family who live 67 air-miles away from our old Sebring property in Melbourne, there is no direct route. It's 116 miles by road or 2¾ hours driving time at the posted speed limits. Nice area, but after less than a week we were always ready to move on.

I was going to say something snotty about your current location (RGV), but your link shows you are up by Boise Idaho. So I can only have sympathy for someone that has to light a bonfire just to warm their crickity old fingers enough to type on the keyboard. :B

Upon reading the Texan's post, I was reminded of the RGV business clerk who commented to us that his view of Winter Texans was that "They come down here (to the RGV) in a T-shirt and a dime and don't want to change either one."

By the way, Imperial Bonita Estates, our location in SW Florida, has more than 80 different activities and is full every season. Of course, costs vary throughout the state, much like they do everywhere -- even Texas.
