x2. The macerator pump is the difference between just filling up containers on the truck bed and letting gravity do the work versus pulling a back muscle fighting gravity.

Without a macerator, the tote was more trouble than it was worth, IMO. Once filled, it was too heavy to lift into the truck, and while the wheels are good, they are not good enough for pulling it much more than a couple hundred yards.

With a macerator, 6-gallon blitz water cans (with their smaller-sized spigot openings) can now be easily filled and loaded into the truck. At a standard RV dump site the cans can be laid down flat with their spigots pouring into the the dump tank, several at a time. A single can can be lugged to a park or ski area restroom and emptied in a toilet--try doing that with a tote.

IMO, the macerator pump is more important than a tote.

I kinda like the idea of carrying the empty tote in the back of the truck bed and then use the 12VDC Macerator Pump to fill the empty tote in the back of the truck bed. When full then just disconnect the hose from the macerator pump and tie off high on the truck and drive to the dump area.

Then drop the hose and let gravity feed empty your portable tote.

The only downside would be not having a bigger tote than you tank capacity so that you don't have to worry about over filling the tote in the back of your truck bed and making a mess...

I haven't done this yet have watched a couple of neighbor campers do it. Seems to be mess free for them...

My daily chore camping off the non-hook up sites is carrying my two 7.5 gal Aqua-tainer gray water totes to their bath house using a folding two wheeled dolly to pour down their toilet and bringing back fresh water in my 5 gal water can. My 5-gal cassette potti tote also has wheels on it...

If you are dry camping and have a motorhome, then the only issue would be pulling in the awning/slides and put away anthing that might fall over and break. Seems pretty easy to pull out and drive to the dump. We bought a tote when we had our TT. To me it was much easier to use the tote than having to hook up the TT to the truck (raising stabilizers, etc). With our class C, if we are not on hookups, then it's really simple to hit the button to put the slides and awnings in and drive away. If I was using blocks to level, then I can pretty much put the motorhome back to where it was. Much easier than the TT (or a fifth wheel). If not exactly, then it still won't take much. I already know how many blocks its going to take and where.

Ok, dry camping it is.

I would rather dump my blue tote everyday than move my RV once set up.

Yep. Drydocking is not boon docking.

We have 53 gallons of fresh water that lasts 2 of us for almost 2 weeks as we know how to conserve our water and power. No need to dump, refill or use a tote. If I need a little more water I carry 2 5g collapsible jugs that cost me $6 each and take up hardly any room in the camper. We can get by without a generator to as long as its sunny outside every other day.
So I guess it how much work do you want to do vs conserving. Everyone has there own way of doing things. Maybe the guy you observed is new to RV's or only does this once in a great while so he does not want to invest money in a tote or deal with the storing of it when not in use.

We boondock 3 weeks at a time, we do have water 75ft away. I wouldn't be without the Blue Goose. It is a 42 gallon, I put pneumatic wheels on and we don't conserve. A heck of a lot easier than moving a 37 ft class A and try to get back in the same spot. Once you get used to it it's no problem.
