The above-mentioned Atherton Creek campground would be ideal for you. It's not too far from the national park's awesome hiking trails and for touring the park. However, you really need to plan more than one day for the park. Three would be ideal for your family. Have a good trip! Here's the web site. Another recommendation would be staying IN the park itself at Gros Ventre campground which is in the area of Atherton. It has 300 unreservable sites and it rarely fills. It sounds like it would be very crowded but the sites have good space.
