bka, that is an amazing shot!! I am having trouble figuring out the location of the shot, though -- it looks like the sun is setting in the northwest and the river is flowing north?? Or is the image reversed? I don't think it can be a sunrise, since the Tetons are west of the valley floor. I'm confused, obviously.
As I have shared in the past, take advantages of the tragedy forest fires create and watch how they will increase your solar harvesting and sunrises and sunsets. The coloring comes from the heavy smoke in the air, from a nearby forest fire in Idaho during this September time.
After 42 continuous years of visiting, working, living, backpacking, hiking, skiing, biking and paddling in the two parks, I have got to know the area really well and how to escape the crowds.
The river is flowing south. This shot is late in September, so the sun would be in the west, southwest sky. It is a sunset. I have also had other RV.net posters join me in this location over the years, as well. Including this summer.

Again, it is the gaining color from the sunset and the particles in the atmosphere from the runaway forest fires scarring the western United States. Another shot as the sun slowly disappeared;
