Nice pics! Glad to hear that you had a fun time and a safe trip. We have stopped going there because of the overcrowding, but the Smokies was one of our favorite destinations for about 30 years or so. By the by, my dogs always love what we call "the power sniff" too ;)- R

We have had 3 trips there in the last year. For two of them, we were one of only 6-8 campers in the entire Smokemont campground. It was incredible! This last one, was Memorial Day weekend, and you could hardly get to Clingman's Dome. Still enjoyed the trip, but point is, you can find the park nearly empty if you time it right.

You're going at the wrong time of the year I bet. We went the second weekend in May and the numbers were low. Finding a parking spot right at the trail heads was always very easy. I guess if you're talking about going into the tourist trap towns you're just asking for it.

Looks like you had a great time. Love your pictures. We also enjoy staying at River Valley especially if you get a site by the river.
