Not sure of your timing but the
Galveston State Park is a heck of a deal @ $25/day for 50amp & beachfront. We've spent a couple of weeks there. HOWEVER, don't take the bay side sites. You're out of the breeze, off the beach and into the mosquitoes in a big way. Reservations are difficult but we're on the back side of the season now. If you fish, there's no license requirement in a state park.
You're quite a ways from town and the Strand but it's an easy drive in your HHR and there's lots to see and do in Galveston.
