Check out the Naval Aviation Museum. Its about 30 miles east of Gulf shores. Its on the base at NAS Pensacola, but its open to the public and entry and parking are free.
One of the best museums I've ever visited. Lots to see and do for kids as well as adults. The Blue Angels are home based there and if they're in town, there are bleachers outside where you can watch them practice.
Several of the displays are "Hands on" for the kids. Of all ages. BTW, no guns allowed on base, but you can either leave them at the CG or they'll check them for you at the gate.
It brought back lots of memories for me, because I was stationed in Pensacola for two years.
