Safe Travels. - oakboweryExplorerWe spend a good bit of time at Gulf State. I'm 2.5 hours away so we go there frequently for beach trips. The camp ground is an average state park camp ground around here. The online pics make it look like you are on the beach, but as others have said, you are not. It does have a nice pool and splash pad for the kids. If you like gulf shores then gulf state is a convenient location. It's right on the coast so there are very few shade trees. Our sites are always 100% sun. WiFi sucks, our most recent site was 50' from the antenna and it still wouldn't work.

There's a McDonald's just off (west side) of US 59 shown on the restaurant-specific maps that Executive posted that accompany the menus of the different restaurants. There's also a Waffle House along Beach Blvd., I noticed too.

Look into buying a WiFi booster USB for your laptop. I bought a Jefatech brand and couldn't be happier with how it pulls in WiFi signals to your coach, so you don't have to be right on top of the WiFi repeater to get a good signal. It works from inside your coach, so there's no necessity to mount an external antennae. - woodworker414ExplorerSkid Row Joe, thanks for the idea of a Wi-Fi booster. I will certainly look into it.

You do realize you are NOT on the ocean. The park surrounds several small canals that run inland. The ocean is several miles away by car...Dennis
The ocean is actually 5 minutes away by bicycle. I don't know how you traveled for it to be "several miles" ! :E - woodworker414ExplorerWeBeFulltimers. Good morning. The bicycle trail can take you to the, pavilion, I guess. Correct? I knew it took you over to the WalMart area. But even better to take it to the beach.I was hoping I could get to the beach from the cg.
