Harpers Ferry West VA - KOA

We are trying to plan a nice vacation with our Grandchildren (9 and 13) to Harpers Ferry West Virginia. Our TT is a 2012 Tracer 2670 BHS. I've done some research and there is a KOA in Harpers Ferry. Has anyone stayed there before? Any info...pros/cons about staying there would be greatly appreciated.

  • Have stayed there 2 times. 1 time with grand daughters age 10 and 13. 1 time with a lot of family. Both times were good. Sites are small, but it is a busy campground. Be sure to visit the town and take your bicycles on the tow path. I think you will like it. Also, tubing is OK for most ages.

Thanks for your response...We went to Harpers Ferry many years ago and loved it, however, we did not have a tt. We are looking forward to this trip. Hopefully, we can make it. I did check out the KOA web site...seems like a nice place and family oriented.

  • We stayed at this KOA several times. Each time was enjoyable with no issues. Depending on the site you get they can be close to each other.
A lot of activities for the kids. Sunny and shaded sites are available. Nice area for sight seeing.
  • It is a decent KOA park. However they do have breed restrictions for pets. Therefore I spend my camping dollars elsewhere.
  • Nice park. We just left there. Sites are short but they will work with you on finding the right spot. I would make reservations and call them and tell them what you need. Some of the back in spots were actually the nicest. Very nice hosts. You could spend hours in Harpers Ferry town. Very interesting.
  • We go there for Memorial Day weekend. Its always crowded, but generally nice. They have 2 sections, one is out in the open and the other is back in the trees. I prefer the back section with the trees, much cooler in the summer. Nice pool, lots of activites for the kids. Harpers Ferry is a nice town and you are right on the battlefield park if that is your thing. Their is also white water rafting right up the street.

Sites are small, price per night is pretty high (it is a KOA after all), but its a nice park.
