Hiking Snowbirds

Short answer.
Don't worry about it. Trails all over the place, desert walks, mountain hikes. More than you can handle.

Once there find a good book store and you will find dozens of good trail books covering the whole state.

I hate to do the same trail twice. In four years I never ran out of places to explore on foot.

I envy you that first WOW moment.

This is a very nice Arizona State park with several nice hikes. Catalina

Also Gilbert Ray campground on the west side of Tucson has several hikes out of the park.

Don't think I worded my post very well, I'm looking for areas of the southern US other then Sedona and Tucson.

In March Sedona should be in the mid 60's Tucson will be in the mid 80's.

Out of Apache Junction, great hiking trails. Everything from easy to strenuous in the Superstition mountains.

We have wintered in Southern Alabama quite a few times and have returned home in late March through the north of Alabama. Beautiful low mountains, canyons and gorgeous State Parks with many miles of hiking. weather in March is great and much closer for you than Az.
We have spent time in both States, and you can't beat Alabama for food and hospitality. Can't vouch for winter weather in Northern Alabama (Jan-Mar), but the south is very moderate with rare freezes and lots of 60's days.

Thanks folks, I'll take a look at Al. I've been to Mobile but that's it. Come to think of it I spent a couple weeks working in LaGrange Ga, just E of Auburn and really liked the area and the people.

As far as Apache Junction, I'll try for a couple weeks at Lost Dutchman SP when heading from Tucson to Sedona.

Wrong, March ave temp in Tucson is 75 with an ave high of 77 by the end of the month. http://www.intellicast.com/Local/History.aspx?month=3 March, April & May are some of the best weather months. AND the hiking is incredible with an endless number of trails. The birds & butterflies have returned and are unmatched. If we have a wet winter, which is in the long range forecast by NOAA, the flowers are great.
