How long to book in GC & YellowStone

Thinking about booking a month at the Gran Canyon and then Yellowstone

There is a savings on the most rv parks, is that a mistake

Should I move around a week at several locations to see more.

I can boondock here and there also

Leaving FL June have 9-10 weeks.

Please name CG
  • We love to stay inside the park and have full hookups which is not always possible. We stay at Trailer Village on the south rim of the Grand Canyon, Colter Bay Village RV Campground in Grand Tetons National Park, and Fishing Bridge RV Campground in Yellowstone. Maybe three days in the Grand Canyon, same in the Tetons, and at least a week in Yellowstone. Make reservations for all of those campgrounds now. Have a great trip.
  • GC is on my list of places to visit, and given all the other things to see in that area, I don't think a month would be too long, if you find a cg that is central to several "attractions"... find something on US 15 North of Vegas and you can venture out from there to visit the Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Grand Staircase, etc.

Yellowstone, I only visited by car, driving all the way from Jackson WY. It's a huge park, with lots and lots of roads and traffic... very slow traffic. It's another one of those areas you could visit several attractions. Yellowstone itself, Tetons, even an excursion to Custer SP / Black Hills or Glacier NP. All this is pretty spread out, not sure a "central" cg would work, due to lack of roads.
  • We stay at the Railside RV Ranch in Williams when doing the Grand Canyon - it's an hour south. Depending on your level of physical activity for hiking or rafting, a week is plenty.

Long as you're in the area, and heading north, think about Monument Valley for a few days, Arches and Canyonlands in Utah for a few days, and then go on into Wyoming for Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We haven't found a great place to stay in Jackson Hole, but we always stay at the Grizzley RV Park in West Yellowstone. I'd allow at least a week for Yellowstone, again depending on your level of physical activity. Lots of hiking can be done, but we don't. And then go on north an spend some time in and around Glacier Nat'l Park. That's still on our bucket list . . .

You're going to all those places in prime time, so don't expect bargains. Yellowstone itself can easily be worth two weeks, depending on how active you want to get (as in hiking). We've been for a week five times now, and every time we find something we'd missed earlier.

    Have fun . . .
