I'm looking for County Parks in AL, GA, & FL that have campgrounds. I've found some in the past through the forum, but is there a general site for each state or will I need to know the name of each county I'm going through and then search that way?Looking at West coast of FL, Savannah GA & Montgomery AL

Google maps should handle that.

US campgroundsLook for the yellow dot campgrounds - they are county, regional, and city parks. This is the most comprehensive list I have found that is easily searchable.

The Allstays campground website is great for this type of search you can choose the state you want and then filter by type of campgrounds you want including city/county. I did a search for county parks in Alabama and this is what I came up with. You can explore other states by going to the main menu and selecting the state you want.Allstays Alabama county campgrounds

And if you have a smart phone, iPad, etc. I can recommend the Allstays app. Just for giggles, I found about 20 listed within a very short distance from the drink from Tallahassee southward. As a tip, when you turn on the filter in the Allstays app, give it a couple minutes to populate the map with what it finds in the database.

Thanks - this has been really helpful will check out the Ultimate US Public Campground Project also. I know some fairgrounds have public campgrounds - well, I did after the city campground we stopped at was all booked and a local suggested the fairgrounds. It wasn't the Ritz, but ok and had electric & bathroom/shower facility.

I found the city park in Perryton on all the linked websites. The two free campsite websites did not have the Wolf Creek County Park.

The sites all depend upon people submitting data about parks, finding new or unknown parks, etc.

(Frankly one of my best CG sources is WxToad's site - his reviews are exceptional.)

I wonder which "finder" you are referring to? The Ultimate US Public Camppground Project includes both Whigham Park and Wolf Creek County Parks in/near Perryton.

The finder did not work for Perryton Texas. We're a town of about 10,000, and its not even on the map. We have a free RV parking place at the park on main street. Has water, electric, and a RV dump spot. We also have a large county park with everything, but has to be used only for people doing rodeos, Expo Events, and etc. The city park is a nice place to park. We're on highway 70 and 83, in Texas Panhandle. A lot of people use it going south for the winter.

Allstays.com is a good reference. It shows camps that are licensed or recognized by that states health department.
It does not show camps that do not meet the state minimum for license, ie, those too small or with short seasons to meet the 'occupancy' requirement in the state administrative rules for licensure.
Small town fairground camps are an example.
A call to the city, county office or chamber of commerce can open opportunities.

Thank you... this was great the AllStays worked well plus I had forgotten there might be city campgrounds and will check out the free ones. I still have a dumb phone :)
