I have yet to choose a destination for our so called big trip this year.We have been as Far south as SC. We've done Charleston,Savannah,Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach,VA Beach,Williamsburg. Been as far north as Canada, Done: Cap cod, Niagara Falls, NYC. Jersey shore, Poconos.Been as far west as Ohio.Cedar Point Park Flight 93 memorial.I have done all the local stuff, OC,MD,Delaware beaches, Cherry Stone etc.I am interested in any ideas or suggestions for this summer.I have teenagers so I need a teenager friendly destination.Lastly Disney is out we have flown there many times.I'm sure there is somewhere I'm missing. I have a 10 day time frame so I want to avoid driving too far.

You didn't say if you are looking for someplace to park for 10 days, or looking to do more of a travel vacation, but one area to look at is the Smokey Mountains, there is lots to do/see there.Head down to NC and there is the Biltmore Estate in Asheville NC...very cool to tour the place. Asheville itself is a real artsy town so fun to look around. Head West to Franklin NC and they have the highest concentration of gemstones (rubies, sapphires, emeralds, etc) and a ton of places where you mine your own. You pay for a bucket of dirt and use their sluice to pan for gemstones. Reasonable cost and a lot of fun! Now you are right on the border of Great Smokey Mountain Nat Park. You can camp in the park if you want to do the hiking/fishing/nature thing, or just drive through. Just on the other side is Pidgeon Forge (home of Dollywood) and Gatlinburg, and there is plenty to do/see there.That's one loop.Another idea is to head up to Elkhart IN to see the RV Hall of Fame. Very interesting, they have lots of RVs of all different vintages set up that you can walk through, open the cabinets in, etc. Also there are a number of RV factories that give tours. We have a book titled "Watch it Made in the USA" that was a directory of all the factory tours in the US if you like that kind of thing. Good place to stop on the way is the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland OH. Kids will love it if you raised them right listening to Classic Rock LOL.That's another loop.A third idea would be Vermont, Ben and Jerry's and the White Mountains. See a moose. Stop in Woodstock NY for some 60's memorabilia....

2. Charlottesville, Va. area including Monticello, Montpiler

Google attractions for these areas and you will see what is there. We've spent two weeks in each of these over the last two years and have had plenty to do and see.

Acadia. Ditto. Bar Harbor has lots of outdoor activities such as sailing and whale watching. The park has scenic drives, carriage tours, hiking a beach (VERY cold water!), and there's lot of things like mini golf, go karts, etc.

Guess a lot depends on the age of your teens and what they are into.

Some areas of interest:

In Pennsylvania, there's Ricketts Glen and World's End State Parks if your kiddos are in to hiking and being outdoors. You mentioned the Poconos, lots to do there, and there's also the Delaware Water Gap area. Further south, a lot of historical areas/sights to see in upper Bucks County PA, around Upper Black Eddy and Ringing Rocks. There's also the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle in Doylestown PA

The Finger Lakes region of New York State. Lake Skaneateles was always a favourite of mine when I lived back East.

Trying to think of places. If you go out to north western Indiana, you could take a train into Chicago and check that out for a spell. Indiana Dunes NP is supposed to be nice but no hookups, if I recall. I have family in the area and found a couple of campgrounds.

Otherwise, I'm a fan of the New Jersey shores if you haven't been. I think you mentioned you might have been.

Not Disney, but Orlando has Universal. I think Universal is soooo much better than Disney for teens. But, that's right at your 900 mile mark.

My kids are a bit younger than yours, I think.

X2 on Silver Lake. Sand dunes, dune buggies, gokarts, wiggling toes in white sand beaches, sand surfing, and best of all...Cherry Point strudel!

How about Stone Mt Ga. then down to the the cave areas in KY. then if near Bowling Green the Corvette Museum and Beech Bend Park for a day

OP has been to Cedar Point, but depending on how long ago might be fun to go back....I know my kids couldn't get enough roller coaster action. We were close to Hershey PA when we lived on Long Island and camped there several times. When my youngest was old enough to drive, she bought a tent and went with a friend camping and roller-coaster-ing at Hershey!

North Carolina's Outer Banks. Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kill Devil Hills, Roanoke Island and performance of The Lost Colony in the summer months, pristine beaches, fishing, lighthouses (some like Cape Hatteras that you can climb), the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum, free ferry ride to Ocracoke Island with wild Banker Pony pens, and more.
