Looks like a location between Arkansas and Pensacola (Ft. Pickens) would be around Hattisburg, MS. We have stayed at Big Creek Water park which is really near Soso, MS. It might fit the kind of relaxing stopover you are looking for.
Several years ago we stayed at the Okatoma RV Resort which is north of Hattisburg. We had a very pleasant overnight there. If you should choose to stop here, check direction very carefully.
We have made the trip from East Texas to Alabama/Florida many times. These are just some possibilities.
