My suggestion for visiting the REAL FLORIDA would be to pick up a guide book on the subject or an OFF THE BEATEN PATH book. There are so many great places to see that it really is necessary to pick up one or both of those books to narrow your specific interests. We don't boondock but my thoughts are that it might be hard to find a boondocking area in peninsula Florida. Some very good restaurants that only the locals know about and the only mouse ears to be found are on real mice you'll encounter walking in the forest.
