Jacksonville FL

Looking for a nice destination type park. Full Hookup, Big Rig, Pets a must. Looking on RV Reviews the rating are all over the place. Looks like I'm going to be traveling down that way in the summer of 15' just need some opinions from those who have had eyes in the area & feet on the ground.
Thanks!
Bob
  • Jacksonville is a big place (takes up a whole county LOL). Depending on what area you are considering, you can drive to Villano Beach in 30 minutes to one hour and stay at North Beach campground. Its right across A1A from the beach and meets all your criteria. A little on the pricey side, but it is private and has all amenities.
  • Yes to Pecan Park. Only a few bad things, it's shade free and near the airport. It is also further away from all the so-called bad spots of town. A few years back, I would also had recommended Flamingo Lake but I think the bad areas are expanding. Jacksonville may become the Chicago of the south with all the violence.

A few years ago we lived in the country, now, we can hear gunshots almost every night from our so called country home.

We "cheat" and use Passport America since we are on the road a lot. $24.86/night at Pecan Park with the following "rules": "November thru April, PA is valid for 1 night within any consecutive 30 day period. Please see management for discounts on longer stays. From May thru October - PA is valid for a minimum of three nights and a maximum of 6 nights within any consecutive 30 day period."

We are not affiliated with PA but use them about 75% of the time and it pays the membership cost in short order and use the savings to explore.

  • We always enjoy Pecan RV Park http://www.pecanparkrvresort.com/index.php. Good restaurants nearby, a flea market if you like them, and close to the Budweiser Plant tour among many other attractions in the area..
