KOA ridiculous charge

The city is Central city in CO.I don't have rezervation but that is not a reason to charge so much for nothing.and I forgot to mention that the regular price was 43$.

We stay at a KOA on the Maine coast. Yes, it is pricey, but on the other hand it is very clean, the staff is welcoming, and you can't touch a seaside cottage for 3X the price...

I don't use KOA's. Never been in one that did not over charge.

Not enough detail here. Did you have a reservation or show up at the last minute? If no reservation... you can only take what you get.

Where is this park located that overflow was $40? I've paid $80 to stay at a bare bones park outside NYC and was okay with the price. I've paid $130 to stay at a RV park in Florida in February and agreed to pay the price (no reservations, only spot open. My mistake, I willingly paid the price). Depending upon where you went, $40 could be reasonable.

One of my favorite features about my Jayco is that it has WHEELS on it. If I don't like a park, I can move on down the road. I don't really like KOA parks because they are generally more expensive. Now, when my kids are older and might enjoy the amenities I might reconsider. Sorry you had a bad experience... not sure how that is applicable to any of us though.

I choose KOAs because they're a known quantity. I haven't been in one in over 10 years that didn't meet my needs which is a FHU, pull thru site and WIFI. Cable is a bonus. I've been asked if I wanted a spot near the pool, or playground or the fenced dog walking area. No, no and no. Since I won't be using them, no need to take a spot for someone that does want them. OTOH, one KOA had a picnic table at each site and the morning paper was on it each morning. That's an extra that I appreciated. As locals, the owners also seem to know what to see and do in the area, and what to avoid. I've gotten some good tips that way.

Are you basing your opinion on all KOA's based on the Kent KOA? Most of the others in our area are pretty nice.

I've been treated very well at some KOA's and, sorry, but I refuse to boycott them based on input from one post from a person I don't even know.

You know when you have a bad experience with a campground, you remember it and unfortunately for KOA I had a horrible experience with them also and while it was one owner who I feel cheated me out of $35. and while $35 is nothing, that was in 2005 and I let my membership expire and I have never been back to a KOA since. I know it is silly, I don't blame all military base FAMCAMPS for one bad experience, but I won't go back to any KOAs ever.
Sorry OP you had a bad experience and charging you $40 to park your rig sounds absolutely ridiculous but now KOA has another unsatisfied customer and like me, you will think of it every time you think of a place to stay. What is that saying about cutting off your nose to spite your face.? I think KOA does that often.
