Lake Conroe Area Camping

I've read all of the reviews for RV Parks around Lake Conroe and haven't been impressed by any of the reviews. Do any of you live near Willis, TX that could give me some advice on the nicest RV parks in the area. We really like Rayford Crossing, but that is too far to drive each day to Lake Conroe to be with our children who have rented a house on the lake in July. Our Class C is hard to cool in the summer, so trees would be a good thing. The house the kids rented is off of FM Road 830. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Jim
  • don't know about nicest, but I stayed at Park on the Lake, IIRC, and lots of spots were right on the water. certainly adequate, decent shower house. at that time it was a passport america member.

  • OnAlaska on the eastern shore of the lake. They were expanding the place the last time we were there.

There is a resturaunt on the east bank posts the the sunset time and the food is OK.
  • North Houston/Lake Conroe KOA is where we always stay. Roomy, paved, open sites.

We have been staying there from long before it became a KOA. It was previously named, "Haven's Landing RV Resort."

We do not often prefer KOAs, but this is one that we do prefer.

I checked that one out and yes it is nice. all of their waterfront sites were back in only, so I would have to park my motorhome in the "wrong" way and run hoses, etc. under unit to have a good view.

  • Thanks for the help. I guess it will either be Park on the Lake RV Park or the KOA which is on the other side of the lake from where the kids have rented a house. (If I'm reading the map correctly.)
