- Dave_s_WifeExplorerNavajo lake is beautiful and the park at the top of the dam is pretty well maintained. The road up there is not so hot but you can't have everything. The area is full of history and it's near the Colorado border. Not sure about staying too long this time of year, If you do go check out the Wines of the San Juan in Turley. Great little winery family owned. The have events on the weekends too. Take a day trip to Durango, CO. lovely litte place.

A few years ago we spent several days at Navajo Lake SP. Here is an article with pictures and comments.
We enjoyed it.

This is what I am talking about! Thanks so much. I added your BLOG to my favorites. We only spent one night at Navajo. The lake is beautiful but the campground was crowded and sites uneven. Wouldn't mind going back there when not so crowded.
We are currently at Caballo SP near Truth or Consequences. We are in site #4 and you are right it is the best site in the Park!
Thanks again! - littlemoExplorer

Believe me I have "Googled" everything related to what area I'm interested and are headed. But this forum is full of people with a lot of "PERSONAL" information (hence the forum). You can't google what these people have to share!;) - ALBQExplorerJust Google Navajo State Park New Mexico and you'll get tons of info on camping, boating, ect.::::::
- 2gypsies1Explorer IIIWe stayed at the Cottonwood campground of Navajo Lake State Park in New Mexico right on the San Juan River - awesome trout fishing - catch and release - if that's your thing. :) Load up your pantry beforehand.
