As to Britt Donuts. For those of you that don't know. They are the very best donuts made, BAR NONE. Yes it is worth the trip. We have benn known to drive to Carolina beach just to get them. Britt's is the main draw for Carolina Beach. People dock off the intercoastal waterway and walk to the donut shop, Krispy Kream can't compare. Dunkin ain't never made a donut.
They make each one of them by hand, roll them out with a dough rolling pin, cut them with a hand cutter, Hand lay them on the grate, and put them in the same vat that has been there for 50 years. Hand turn them with wooden dowels, Then slide that same dowl thru the holes, hang them, and glaze them, and then IF you are timed just right. Slide them off the dowel onto your napkin. They are so good. You don't even have to chew them up, They just melt in your mouth.
OK, Now I've done it. ROAD TRIP!!!!
