Man I missed the entire first portion of this posting. I thought it was another Charlotte posting from the other day.
Here's my recommendation.... Stone Mountain State Park. W/E sties and sites are spread out. There are trails, waterfalls, streams and more to do in the park. I live 45 minutes north of Charlotte and it's about an hour north of me. It is one of our favorite places that we conside local to us. WE have an article about it here.
