Just wanted to post an update on our adventures so far: our first trip out, we went to Sycamore Lodge. We loved it for the number of activities for the kids. The weekend was entirely too crowded, but cleared out on Sunday, leaving us two more days to enjoy the property without the crowd. We didn't buy their insanely priced membership, but it got us looking at the Coast toCoast membership options. For now, we have enough public land to keep us busy for awhile.
We're spending this weekend at Kings Mountain. It's not busy here at all, so the quiet is nice :) We visited the Battleground today, which we all loved! My six year old son loved it the most! Since we homeschool, we were able to get in quite a bit of learning, too! Overall, Kings Mountain has been a great short trip destination and we plan to return!
Next on the books is Stone Mountain, hopefully in June. If anyone has a favorite site to suggest, it'd be appreciated! It's always hard to book a site online without seeing it in person.
Also for June, we'd like to hit the beach! Hoping to catch a few days there before school is out and the crowds roll in :) So, where's the best beach destination? Prefer not to go more than 4 hours away since my husband will still have to work 1/2 day on the day we leave out. It's also about the car limit of our two year old :) Tell me a little about where to camp and get Britts Donuts too!
Thanks again to everyone who has given suggestions so far! This newbie family really appreciates it!!
