LeFleurs Bluff State Park, MS

Any opinions on LeFleurs Bluff State Park, MS? RVReviews gave it a fair write up, but the latest was in January. What's it like in early June? We need a night over on our way from St. Louis to Gulf Shores, AL. Unfortunately we'll be hitting it on a Saturday night. Were going to aim for Holmes County SP, but have read some bad reviews of it, so we thought we'd push it a bit further to the Jackson area.
Appreciate any and all thoughts.

thanks
  • wxtoad: thanks so much for the input. I don't why I didn't check your site in the first place. You have no idea how much your site has helped us in planning our trips. Kudos!
I think our plan is to head for LeFleur's Bluff State Park and as arriving Saturday evening, if that doesn't work, Timberlake Campground isn't all that far away and a much larger park. After all, we only want a night over.
  • We've stayed at both LeFleurs Bluff and Timberlake. You can find picture reviews we wrote on our website:

I agree with the comments about dust and mud at LeFleurs Bluff.

  • That's good to know. We are headed there next week. I was hesitant to recommend before I had actually stayed there.

Another option in the Jackson area is Timberlake in Brandon. Very nice park. The newest section is great for overnighting and are very large double concrete pads and patios.

  • We stayed there 3 night over a weekend last Oct. It was fine for what we wanted to do in the area, geocaching and meeting up with a friend. We made a reservation a couple weeks in advance since only 3 sites were available. Not sure about how it would be in June.
  • It was a nice park the last time we visited, but the roads are not paved and in the hot summers, a lot of dust is kicked up. By the same token, hope it is not raining as it would be very muddy...
