Lyndhurst, NJ- Paranoid locals call Homeland Security on RV!

I work from home/rv and was traveling up rte 95.

I decided to stop at a diner, then in a large park in Lyndhurst, NJ to spend the day working and then go for some walks in the park.

It was a nice day out, so it seemed like a great spot to spend a few daylight hours away from traffic/noise.

I'm online in the RV, no slides out, no noise coming from the rv, when suddenly, a loud police style knock.

I come outside to see whats going on and 8-10 non uniformed, badge wearing homeland security officers are there to greet me!

Homeland Security!!!

I had been in the town all of 2 hours, including trying out their diner for breakfast.

They had me get out of the rig and questioned the hell out of me, took my ID, my bill of sale/title and just relentlessly questioned me for around an hour, while surrounding me in a circle.

They looked in my vehicle and truck camper, but did not do a full search. Note: you can carry a shotgun/rifle locked in your rv while driving in nj if it is locked away from the driver's compartment, as in a truck camper. I very frighteningly tested this bleeding edge of nj gun law out yesterday.

I'm a very normal looking white guy with short hair, new clothes, clean shaven. I don't even have a tattoo. It's a 2009 Arctic Fox truck camper on a 2002 Dodge diesel that was never used (just turned 70,000 miles).

They said it was abnormal for an rv to be in a public park in the middle of the day and that made it suspicious!!

I could not believe what was happening.

After the interrogation, they were nice, but who the F calls homeland security on an rv in a public park at 10:00 AM?!?!

This is a paranoid dump of a little town where the locals call RVs in for being in public parks. I can't imagine what would have happened if i had long hair, a weird look, was black or middle eastern. I probably wouldn't be here to write this. Would probably still be in interrogation.

The locals here are god awful people and very, very unfriendly to RVs.

Definitely DO NOT go to or buy anything in Lyndhurst, NJ.
