Mail forward

We are lucky as our daughter lives a mile from us and goes by our mailbox everyday. She is going to stop and pick up our mail daily. I have envelopes with postage already on them so she will mail us anything that we will need to take care of while we are away. It should not be much as we do all our bill pay online and won't be wanting all the junk mail we get. I'm sure we will be talking with her every day or so and she can let us know what has arrived and if we want it forwarded. We figured this was easier than trying to stop and restart mail for 3 months.

Even for short term traveling for the winter months I use a mail forwarding service like myrvmail.com. They take care of everything for me.

Live in a small town!! We do not start getting to mail at home again until our carrier sees the trailer setting in the yard being unloaded and getting ready for the storage lot! Chris

Are you folks using the same USPS service? The regular forward was only for class 1 mail, just mail went into the mail box (rural) out front and piled up. Anything marked "Do Not Forward", like stuff from the bank, was sent back to them.

Took an extra week for the PO to start the forward from the date we asked for, and a week to get it going back to the house after the restart date. Just got it today.

Had to have the lawn guy empty the mailbox weekly of junk mail, even with the forward active.

The service worked, but it sure is lacking.

We had a fantastic female carrier until last year. Became a good friend and always stopped to say hi to Nick the dog if we were out. The new carrier is looks like a slop and acts like one too. Shuffles down the walk and won't say hi unless you go first. Old carrier even saved junk mail in a box and gave it to us just I case we might want it when we got home to go through. Don't really trust the new one.

You are all very fortunate that you leave in an area where there is a great local post office and carriers. Our post office is hugh and we never have a regular carrier. Seems every few weeks or month is the length of time for a regular.
