I work for the USPS and the problem that I see a lot with snowbirds is they complete the changes of address wrong. They check the individual box instead of the "family" (hubby & wife). Another issues is the permanent box is checked instead of the "temporary" box, thus requiring and ending date.
Correcting the inaccurate information is fairly simple but I can't read minds...leaving me a note in your mailbox (about your situation) will help clear things up BEFORE you head to your winter home. Then if anything is completed wrong I can fix it...quickly! :)
All first class, 2nd class (these are the magazines that you purchase a subscription to) and priority mail and packages are forwarded at no charge. The bulk or standard mail (aka junk mail) is not forwardable. Some companies put "do not forward" on their products so the USPS is not able to forward that info to you.
