- kzoocamperExplorerWe enjoyed Bayley's Resort when we stayed there a few years ago. It was only the two of us so we did not use all of the amenities but still had a great time. Close to Old Orchard Beach (free trolley if I remember correctly) and very nice pools and grounds.
- docsouceExplorer IIIf you are heading up the coast 2 very nice campgrounds come to mind.
Shore Hills Campgrounds in Booth Bay. The Booth Bay Railway village is right down the road. A great day can be spent here, and of course Booth Bay Harbor village has some great shops and restaurants.
The Lobster Buoy Campsites in South Thomaston. It seems that all the campsites in this hidden gem are right on the ocean. It is located just south of Rockport and Camden. - lmpresExplorerWe love Wells Beach. Sea Vu and Sea Vu West are very nice campgrounds. There's a trolly that runs all around the area for $1. Great food. Nice beaches.
- MerrykaliaExplorerWe really like Old Orchard Beach for the old-timey beachfront community. The downtown area is just so fun with some good restaurants, good fun for the kids (young teens) and some really good campgrounds. We don't do resorts because all the extra "fluff" is not for us. We stay at Ne're Family RV Park on the hill above downtown. It's 3 blocks from the water and easy walking if you can do the hill.
It's about 30 minutes from downtown Portland and the original LL Bean, which is worth a day trip. - AirdaileExplorerBar Harbor/Acadia and the Schoodic Peninsula
