IMHO, Plymouth Rock is the world's most disappointing tourist attraction. I certainly would not pick a campground based on its proximity to the Rock.

We stayed at Pinewood Lodge a few years ago and really liked it. Very near to Plymouth. When you visit Plymouth Rock, make sure to talk to the Rangers there - they give a very good and informative talk about it.

We stayed at Atlantic Oaks to visit Cape Cod, great campground. The pull thru sites in the back half of the campground are surprisingly spacious and well laid out. If you like bike riding, the campground is directly connected to the Rail Trail - beautiful, flat, and scenic paved bike trail (old railroad right of way) that runs the entire length of Cape Cod.

For the Cape, shoot for somewhere near the elbow. With the traffic it gets it can be a long drive from one end to the other. Somewhere like Shady Knoll, Atlantic Oaks or Nickerson SP in the Brewster area, depending if you want hookups.

I agree. They seem to be wanting to sightsee and explore both Boston and Plymouth and Cape Cod, not hang around a fancy campground.

I'd Second Winter Island in Salem Ma. It's no Normandy Farms, but being right by Salem Harbor, and the beach with tidal pools was lots of fun for our girls. We drove to Boston MA but could have taken the ferry. Girls loved checking out stuff in Salem

When we visited Plymouth we used Pinewood Lodge and liked it very much; found it as a previous reply to your post stated. That was a long time ago, though.

I know lots of people think Normandy Farms is a great campground but I think is is a bit of a travel to the places the OP would like to visit, Boston, Plymouth, and Cape Cod.

Maybe a few days in Boston Plymouth area then a few days on the Cape would allow more seeing and an hour or two less driving.

We recommend Atlantic Oaks on Cape Cod. We did an entire podcast episode on Cape Cod--with reviews of the Campground, Activities, Restaurants, Kayaking etc.. Take a listen for all kinds of stuff about Cape Cod!

Have been to all of the suggested places. Our personal recommendation is Boston Minuteman. If visiting Boston is your goal, it is a great location, with excellent hookups and nice setting. It is also relatively small. If you want a large campground with lots of amenities/activities on site, then Normandy Farms fits the bill.

LOL, No, it didn't move. Ocean is Cape Cod Bay, The Canal also starts there. Perfect for Plymouth and Cape Cod activities, About 45-50
minutes from Boston in non-rush hour traffic. :)
