When you buy something you are expected to pay for it!
Very normal with a reservation system found for most CG's. Not only Michigan State parks but other states and nearly all private CG's also. YOU stated the dates you wanted and got them and then changed your mind so HOW is it the fault or a problem caused by a reservation system or a/the state park? Most of the good Michigan State Parks are very popular and busy to booked solid during the summer months after school is out.
Tahquamenon Falls State Park is no exception and there are 3 individual CG's in the state park. The Lower CG (River Bend CG) at the lower falls is even usually full in September and October for falls colors and the upper CG there is plowed and open year around. What is the state park going to do with the only ONE day vacancy you create by the changing of your reservation?
The Michigan State Park CG system lives up to its reservation commitment and your site is waiting for you as reserved and you need to live up to your commitment made with your reservation or compensate financially as the DNR rules stated and printed on the reservation site say! You are not special and think that the rules won't apply to you. Maybe you'd be happier staying in Iowa as there's NO shortage of other campers/RV'ers who will be delighted to replace you in any of the Michigan State Park CG's and adhere to the DNR/reservation system's stated rules. That's why there's a reservation system today as unfortunately it's needed for so many of the state parks. Michigan really needs 200+ state park CG's as the about 100 isn't nearly enough.
You have NO beef with the reservation system at all as you accepted the details when you made and were granted the reservations per YOUR request!
