- RandACampinExplorer IIDBIDS or Defense Biometric Identification Sytem is the the new policy for all DOD installations, there is no commander leeway. There are also no more stickers. Stickers DO NOT grant you base acess, DBIDS does. If you do not have a Common Acess Card or other valid Military ID that grants you acess you will have to get a visitors pass. Those are your options...period.
DBIDS - gafidlerExplorerFort Hood, TX. requires a decal, don't know about other places
- pigman1ExplorerLast winter Yuma Proving grounds required a sticker, but about 3-4 minutes at the gate got you a temporary. Two years ago Camp LeJune Marines required a sticker and full registration, until you showed up with a 40'Bus and toad in tow and no place to park it while you got your sticker. A nod and a wink and we were in (after a full ID check). Haven't hit an AFB that required it in 3 years, with Davis Monthan being the last hold out there of the ones we go to. Dover AFB requires full ID check and so does McGuire/Dix, but a civilian can get in with a photo driver's license as long as a Military ID holder is with them. Call Pass and ID if you really want to get the right answer for where you want to go.
- imgoin4itExplorerIt is not an individual Installation Commanders decision. As for the USAF no installation will provide the DOD sticker. I know, I asked once upon a time, and the question was asked at dEPT level and the answer was a resounding NO. Some people including me wanted them for exactly the reason you suggested so that if anther installation required them they would be on the vehicle. I got mine for a couple of years at a near-by Army installation until such time as they also quit registrations. If one stops and thinks about it they were never any good anyway. Could register the vehicle one day drop the insurance the next and drive on base every day. So why spend the time effort and money to do a worthless task. The cops can check you vehicle license any time just like every other cop does so why spend the time and effort of a separate and parallel program.
- RichertExplorerI think the Base Commander makes that decision, I also think that if you have to you can go ahead and register your MH & Towed at the base you want to enter. Every base has their own policy. I have had no problems getting to any FamCamp!!

You're correct. We're @ Beale AFB right now. Only 2 of the gates are RV accessible. One RVer review of Beale told of incurring $11,000 damage to his MH trying to 'dance' around the concrete!
In other words, it sounds as if it would be wise to keep a current base sticker just in case you run into a base where no sticker means a lot of hassle plus a 'boarding'. - imgoin4itExplorerThe Air Force did away with stickers on vehicles several years ago. They have no stickers and will not issue them. I know that the Army posts that I have been to anyway, followed suit a year or so later. I believe the Navy has done the same. I have only been to one Navy installation and they did not require a sticker. Showed an ID card at every gate.
- pf32450ExplorerMost have done away with the vehicle sticker do in part for security of all military personel.
