Minot / Bismarck / Medora ND area Week of July 7th

Hello All.

We're planning a little golf/camping getaway in and around the Bismarck/Minot/Medora ND area during the week of July 7th. I've made a few phone calls and found that due to oil patch activities there are very few spots still available around Minot.

We're pretty flexible but we DO REQUIRE electrical for the Air Conditioning (spoiled dog/cat) while we are golfing during the day (spoiled mom/dad). :):)

Anyone have suggestions for campgrounds in and around that area?

Thanks in advance!

  • My experience at Medora city CG was not good. Terrible roads in the CG and it rained so the mud stuck to my shoes and I could not scrape it off. I had to change shoes.

I know there is a "private" CG that looked better when we drove past it and the roads were paved.

I should have taken the reviews more seriously.

In Williston I could not find an RV Park. Parked on the street in front of a friends house for the night. Williston has much more than one store and restaurant. Williston is a City, (filled with oil field workers) not a berg.

We did spend the summer in Bottineau at the city Park which had full hookups and a good rate. We really enjoyed the stay there.
  • I've read recent news articles about farmers renting a space(no HUs) in their fields for oil field workers in RVs. In Williston (the Closest town) there's one restaurant and one grocery, and the prices are horrible. They've hit oil shale which will extend the boom. I'd avoid US 2 and make sure I had reservations at a reasonable price in Bismarck and Medora.
This isn't going to get better soon.
