- mleekampExplorerLooks like they were living there. Always leave it better than you found it. We tend to pick up trash at campsites. One thing that bothers me every time, is trash put in the fire pit. I'm not burning your plastic bottles, coke cans, or tissue. Yuk.
- LwiddisExplorer IISeems to me that the Caribou-Targhee National Forest staff need to inspect more often. Multiple complaints over how long before they looked?
- ferndaleflyerExplorer IIIThat rare unibody Ford is worth enough to get that site cleaned up.....wonder why it had to get this bad before anyone did anything about it?
- bgumExplorerThose in charge know that this individual does not represent the vast majority of campers enjoying our national forests. We will always have those that are outside the norm.
- larry_cadExplorer IIDang, I could use some of that stuff at home! :(
- cptqueegExplorer IIIt's pathetic how little actual law enforcement gets done. The primary issue is the limited number of agents in the field to cover a vast landscape.
The officers depend on staff and public info so the more leads they get the more effective they can be. - wanderingaimlesExplorerWhat great propaganda material for the heads of the Federal departments that want to close all of these areas to all citizen uses. Tracey Stone-Manning and her ilk will use stooges like the ones at fault here to close those areas off from ALL public use.
- Mayor30ExplorerWhile that is really bad,it was one person out of thousands or millions who use our National Forest every year. He got convicted as he should have. That is not an indictment of all of us who use the forest. Most campers are responsibile.
- HeisenbergExplorerThere is always a way to leave it better than you find it.
- NRALIFRExplorerGood grief, theses are squatters not campers. There are already plenty of laws to handle this.
From the article: “Taking up residence on national forest system lands and/or facilities is illegal.”
The enforcement action may have moved slowly, but it did ultimately enforce the law.
Believe it or not, it’s not the first or the last time it will happen.
This will NOT result in the forests being closed to all.
