mT Rushmore RV park recommendation?

heading to Mt Rushmore this july, any campgrounds that are pretty close to Mt Rushmore and that are a decent campground that anyone can recommend. have a 21ft TT.
thanks
  • thanks to all for the info.. will start looking them up.
    thanks again
  • Rafter J and the Mt. Rushmore KOA are both on the same road as Mt. Rushmore. I stayed at the KOA. Lots of things for kids to do as well as a restaurant, a string of small shops and horseback rides with a wrangler leading the riders. I drove thru Rafter J but didn't stay there.
Custer S.P. is a must see while in he area. If you have a National Parks pass, Custer S.P. requires its own admission fee, but it isn't very expensive. They also ask that you don't feed the animals along the wildlife loop, but the wild burros run a scam. One blocks the road and the others go from car to car begging for food. Take some carrots, but hold on to the green part. Their eye site isn't that good.
  • When we visited Mt. Rushmore and the area, we stayed at Mount Rushmore KOA. We were impressed! It's huge, site are spread out and some are wooded.
  • I would take a look at Beaver Lake Campground in Custer they have some long pull thrus and Cable.
  • Not knowing how long you intend to stay or what else you want to see in the area, I would recommend the campgrounds in Custer State Park. Mt Rushmore would be a reasonable short drive from the park. Lots to see and doe in the Black Hills area of South Dakota.
