N.W. OREGON DUMP STATION SHORTAGE?

We often camp on MT Hood area. Coming home on U.S. 26 our choices to dump are MR Hood RV village which last trip was $13.00, Johnson RV, cump is closed on weekends, Camping World, often blocked with new RV's. Never know. Coming home from Estacada area the dump station there is closed indefinetely and has been so for month's. Does anyone know of other options in these areas?

When we camp Mt Hood we come back via I84 and sometimes we dump at Ainsworth Campground. It is between Multnomah Falls and Cascade Locks. Don't know if the fire hit that campground. Other times we wait until we get home and go to Forest Grove elks where you can dump.

We camped at an equestrian event for 5 days near Bend, OR., water and power, no sewer or dump. Carried it all home, and dumped at the Hillsboro CW the next weekend. This is why I worry about those that state "I never travel with full tanks!" I you camp enough you will at some time need to do that. That trip took us back over Santiam Pass, which is about 4,800' high.
  • There is a Thousand Trails/Encore in Welches on 26 and another on NE Sandy blvd near CW. Not sure if non-members can use their dump stations or what they would charge.
  • Interesting thoughts shared. We enter Portland from the east so Hillsboro or anything on the wast side is not worth it. Ainsworth is closed due to our recent, still burning, fire. No sewer dump at home. We have a problem in Portland with homeless RV folks dumping into the street. I wou8ld never do that but it has crossed my mind.
  • donn, it is so sad that I have reached the point in my life where having a sewer cleanout in my garage sounds like the best thing in the world.

When I was younger, my daydreams were much more interesting.

And back on topic, I think that a lot of RV parks will let you dump for a fee of about ten dollars. (Thirteen is a little high.) Not all of them advertise this service -- you have to call around.
  • The sewage treatment plant in Hillsboro had a public dump station I used a few times. Cities on the other side of Portland might also have them.

  • May not be right on your route but Durham wastewater treatment plant has free RV dump - about a mile or so off of I-5 just south of Portland. Google should get you to their website.
  • Can you dump at home? When we lived in Gresham my sewer cleanout was right inside the garage door, so I would back up, connect and dump.
  • I don't have any better suggestions, but I have to agree with you that Oregon has a major shortage of dump stations.

The entire state only has 7 DOT rest areas with dump stations. And all of them are either in Eastern Oregon, or on the Southern Oregon coast. Not a single on on I-5.

    How about TravelCenters of America?
    790 NW Frontage Rd
    Troutdale, OR 97060
    (503) 666-1588

The list I have says they have a RV dump. (And it says free, but I wouldn't believe that with out calling to verify).
EDIT: The list from TA Corporate does NOT show a dump there.
