Hey THANKS for your reply and suggestion! Yes, we have the property, a motel and RV Park on 10 acres, we have the scope, actually a few of them, most importantly, we have the sky! With that in mind, we have the demand! Marathon is primarily a tourist based economy, so we have our fair share and they're always wanting to look through the telescope! Hence the shout out, anyone with an interest...
Yes there are star parties and then star parties! In fact I'm headed to the Texas Star Party this May and looking forward to that! I can learn a lot at those!
I really appreciated your suggestions on what to look at! A real affirmation! Funny, I'll point that 24" at the Orion Nebula, then Jupiter, guess who the rock star is!? Oh, Saturn is the crowd pleaser of 'em all. Crescent moons are a hit, and clusters, its the contrast that sets them apart! M13 is on its way up, that's one I can't go wrong with! Oh, Omega Centauri is making its appearance! Through a 17mm Ethos, WOW! You made a comment on the vastness, just night before last I had that experience. A lady became a little uncomfortable with that as we were looking at galaxies, M51 to be exact. I might not have given it its due had it not been for reading your description. Now as for the BBQ...I'll work on that!
Thanks again for your response, and any futher suggestions you have, send 'em my way!
