I can't see the solar panels even with my binoculars, no matter how I hold them.
My son did a similar thing. I told him about being able to see them with binos and he said that he could see them without. His eyesight is something like 20/15 or 20/12. (Which comes in handy in his Army Artillery Forward Observer job. ;))
