Naked-eye astronomy is more than just meteors.

The fact that it was moving made it harder to find with the binoculars. It was sure larger and brighter than the two previous sightings. Interesting to watch it suddenly vanish when out of the sun's rays.
So how do the astronauts survive with all the bombardment of cosmic radiation? Seems there must be all kinds of matter flying around out there at fantastic speed. Maybe I need to ask Michio Kaku or Neil deGrasse Tyson.
