I have to resort to watching the ISS with my naked eye. My familial tremor makes it look like a firefly in the wind when I try to use binoculars. It goes away with alcohol, but then there is the focusing issue.
Edit: Other's have suggested using a tripod as a monopod. I actually used a short "selfie" stick to mount my camera and positioned it between my legs on the seat while in a safari vehicle in Africa. It was easy to maneuver and provided a reasonably stable platform.
