Napa Valley Expo RV Park - AVOID

It was dark and we called for directions - NO ANSWER. We found the narrow driveay - NO ONE IN THE GUARD POST. We drove further in toward the only permanennt building we could see. We were "greeted" by a surly man smoking a cigarette while driving a golf cart "Can I help you?" he asked. I cracked the window and asked if he was smoking, when he answered "Yes", I said "Fine, I'll wait until you're done." His response was to hide the cigarette behind his back and say "I'm done. What do you want?" We learned that we needed to check-in FIRST then proceed to the space HE assigned (what a power-trip, the place was half empty!) and surly-man told me to stay inside the vehicle. He complained to my husband that he had a right to smoke where he was. My husband responded that we did NOT want smoke inside our brand new rig. After that, every time we saw him he was driving the cart, or picking through everyone's trash for recycleables, and smoking - leaving a trail of fumes and ashes throughout the park. We didn't complain while we were in the park for fear of his retaliation (there's a million ways to harm a rig and make it look accidental). When we got home I called the management and asked for our money back. WE WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!

  • WOW. Seems like somebody has a chip on their shoulder.
  • first post and blasting a very fine business with headlines "avoid" can only be a preview of a very unhappy camper when she visits a normal rv park not one of the nicer ones.
  • Often RV parks have minimal staff after peak hours, so most either wait, or drive around the park looking for a staff person to let them know you're there.

The big scary surly man who's leaving ashes all over the park (Oh my!) asks if he could help you and your first response is: Are you smoking?

"We learned that we needed to check-in FIRST then proceed to the space HE assigned (what a power-trip, the place was half empty!)"

Power trip? Most RV Parks operate the same way, check in, then space assignment. It goes a long way toward security and safety of guests.
Even if the place was half empty, you don't know if, nor which, spaces were reserved.

I get the feeling that you expected a marching band and hand maidens to greet you upon entrance. Sorry, but I think I'd avoid you before I'd avoid Napa Valley Expo RV Park and the big scary surly man who smokes and leaves a trail of ashes all over the park.(Oh my.)
  • Sorry for the OP's problem.

We,and many more, find Napa Valley Expo to be one of the finer places to stay when in the Napa area. They get great reviews by most as shown in RV Park Reviews and echo those views.

Our last stay was a few years ago in our previous rig.

  • We don't smoke but try to respect the rights of others, hearing both sides of the story would be my 1st. question to you.
  • "...leaving a trail of fumes and ashes throughout the park. ..."
Thank The Lord Above no one drove through with a diesel. REALLY? no one can come close to your "rig" for fear of smells?
If someone had built a fire would you call the swat team in ?
