Pisgah State Park. Never heard of It. There's the pisgah national forest. Couldn't find a state park named it.

We have stayed at several campgrounds in Asheville and we prefer Asheville East KOA in Swannanoa. Mama Gerties is beautiful however the approach is windy and hilly and walking in the park is difficult unless you're a mountain goat. Bathrooms are at the bottom of the mountain if that matters to you. My husband has bad knees and did not like Mama Gerties.

Feel the same way. It was our GO TO CG in the Cherokee area. I guess they can make more money with just seasonal RVs.

I am really sorry to hear that about Holly Cove. I certainly knew about the hillside. I liked that part of it. But I do not like the requirement for minimum stay. It was not like that when we stayed there on several different trips to the area.

This means I would probably not stay there.

Only problem with Holly Cove, and I wish it were not so, we really liked it. It is all seasonal. NO Overnight, or weekend stays. You have to stay at least a week.

It's on a hill though. Sites are terraced off.

Near Asheville as you requested, I agree with Campfire Lodgings and Mama Gertie's. Mama Gerties if you want to take in the Biltmore and other Asheville sights. Campfire Lodgings if you want to be on top of a mountain and kicking back: just take layers because those mountains are cool at night in the summer.

Creekwood Farm and Holly Cove are also nice.

I may be mistaken but South Mountains State Park doesn't have hookups. Stone Mountain State Park has water/electric and I highly recommend it.

Julian Price is good, but be forwarned the sites are unlevel and some of them small. Als, no hook ups.
