lots of places but are you staying on I-10? coming from south FL on I-75? any idea on where you want to stop along the way? you need to narrow this down for us.
You need to stay on I-10 or below it. Do not even think about going any where north of I-10.
How much time have you allowed? Remember, 1-10 is almost 1000 miles across Texas, so that will take a while. Where in Arizona are you going? I would suggest you make Van Horn your last night in Texas, and the next day drive clear to at least Las Cruces - we usually go to Deming because we're Escapees and there is an Escapees park in Deming.
Another option is at San Antonio to take Hwy 90 to Van Horn. More scenic and you'll pass through Langtry. Stop at Judge Roy Bean's. And it's less than 20 miles longer.
Good advice to make VanHorn TX and overnight and when rush hour would be done drive thru ElPaso into Las Cruces or further. We went thru about 11am on Sunday and traffic wasn't bad. We use Passport America for a 50% discount and stay at Desert Willow rv park. We also stop in Deming where there are a couple of participating parks.
We are going on 10. Sad to think we cant go north of that but I'm guessing its because of the cold you say that? We will probably stay west and head back to the east in February. We'll have time to go see anything I think. We don't want to stay in one place to much more than a week or 2 unless its a really great place. Keep the advice coming, I really appreciate it. We are in the Tallahasse area, and heading west.
If you have never been to Big Bend, pick up US 90 at San Antonio and head west. At Marathon, you can turn south and go to Big Bend National Park.. There are private RV parks outside of the National Park and a campground in the park. You can go on line and see about reservations that fit your time frame.
Seems like there was a thread recently detailing many many experiences in Louisiana where they hunted RVs to award them speeding tickets or the most minor traffic violations. So I guess the lesson there was Stay on the Interstate thru LA.
