For those of you that really want to bug out pretty much permanently.
Then you should consider buying some really cheap acreage off ebay, Billy land or any of the other companies that are out there
5 to 20 acres anywhere from a couple thousand on up... depending on what state you want to be in.
Just a thought.

BLM will kick you out of any area around Vegas if you try to stake a claim. It's either private property or federal. Not saying I haven't seen people live out in remote places in the desert for awhile... I suppose when the big one hits, the feds will have other issues to deal with.

We had planned going to Slab City BUT after watching videos on YouTube decided it wasn't the place for us. Suggest you watch every video on YouTube first before you make the decision to stay there. BUT there are some great campgrounds nearby with access to hot springs the KOA being one of them.

Another note about Slab City, and this is secondhand from people that have wintered there: The place has its own rules, and one of those is the law of the jungle. People I know camp there in groups, LoW having a pretty good camp with people watching over each other.

A sole person can be considered prey, and someone will be eyeballing who is coming in, how long they are staying, how tough they appear to be and so on. Leaving for a couple days might result coming back to a trailer missing things.

Oh, get an inboard generator... Hondas tend to vanish into the desert no matter how secure the locks placed on them.

Slab City is about the only place where you can drop your trailer and claim that spot as yours, however you won't own the land, also don't leave trailer vacant for more than a few days, others in that area will move in and claim it as theirs.

Work is hard to come by in this area.
