Sometimes I'm amazed at posts regarding site prices and looking for places to sleep for free on the cheap. It seems some have no problem buying TV's that cost $40 - 60+K and RV's that cost anywhere between $30 -100+K and then are looking for places to stay on the cheap. Not a criticism; just an observation. Justify all you want; the observation is supported by the posts on this site. Makes you scratch your head. Camp on!
If / when one finds themselves in a situation where they want to rest for a few hours, or it's too late to check in to a campground, or there aren't any campsites available within a reasonable distance, etc., in relationship to ones ability to continue driving without endangering others or themselves, one wouldn't have to scratch their head.
Personally, I tend to be extravagant in some areas and frugal in others. I own my two RVs and my home outright, yet, I turn lights out when I leave a room, will spend extravagantly on art supplies and or technology, while also seriously considering whether to buy this bleu cheese dressing or the brand that is 50 cents less expensive.

That's correct! Being frugal and saving money is how I was able to write a $170K check for my motorhome. And, I haven't changed, I still look for ways of saving money. Yes, I overnight at Walmart sometimes. And, I look for campgrounds where I don't have to pay for a lot of features that I don't use.
Call me a cheapskate, it's OK by me.
There is a difference between being frugal and being cheap. You are frugal. Nothing wrong with that. - Cloud_DancerExplorer II

The "usually friendly" snowbirds section might be more realistic in another comparison -- that of the reported "Sticky" weather at its beginning. Pensacola and Gainesville pale in comparison to any place in SW Florida, but are probably listed to make the RGV weather sound less fierce.
Likewise, the number of RVers in the Miamia area pale next to the number on the gulf coast, but the really expensive RV parks are located on this coast -- and also provide a lopsided "statistic" to use in a FL/TX comparison.
If the Fort Myers to Naples area were listed, the report on Florida would take a decided jump in temperatures and give a more honest basis for comparison. To ignore such a large area 250 miles and more south of Orlando -- an area which comprises the entire southwestern part of the state -- is very misleading to snowbirds who are just starting this life-journey.
Updated, Fort Myers wouldn't display but got Naples on there. - fchammer1ExplorerThe "usually friendly" snowbirds section might be more realistic in another comparison -- that of the reported "Sticky" weather at its beginning. "Don't think so"
That's kinda like me asking can I rent a lot in Texas for 5 1/2 months where I am guaranteed to see temps over 70 most of the time like I see in florida?
But that's OK...
Because now not only can we go to the "tow vehicle" section for the epic Ford vs GM vs Fiat/Dodge/Ram slug fests...
Or the "tech section" for the hard fought Mac vs PC battles
Now we can come to the usually friendly "snowbirds section" for the knock down battle royal Texas vs Florida vs Arizona :W - TomG2Explorer

You are "amazed" that some people might find it better to pull over in a parking lot for a few hours rest instead of paying $40 to the local campground? It surprises you that people who pay $3,000 instead of $5,000 for a season's camping have better things to do with their $2,000 savings? Doesn't amaze me at all. In fact, I am one of them. - The_Painting_TeExplorer

Your implication is that there is flawed logic involved, or otherwise wrong thinking. Are people who have nice things not supposed to save a buck when they can? Help me out here.
