Here's a link to the new Anik G1 satellite specs on Telesat's website. The footprint covers various parts of North and South America depending what service is being accessed.

Based on Telesat's description of the service intentions, the satellite is there to provide NEW and EXTENDED services, not to take over existing services. It is positioned almost next to one of Shaw's other 2 satellites.
At this stage it doesn't appear that there will be any change for snowbirds, but perhaps over time, for those with HD, there could be an impact.
