When I am camped the last thing I want to do is go inside & watch TV. My wife is an addict which is why I refuse to have a dish.
BTW try using something like a slingbox in an RV park and they will soon choke it off. It will slow down connections for everyone else.
Winter in Mexico is the only time I actually get to communicate with my wife. Any shows i really want to watch are waiting at home on the PVR.
Maybe some parks, not all, I subscribe to ADSL at 10 Meg in our park through Century Link, landline connectivity, I have tested it several times through the winter, runs as slow as 8 Meg, never slower, many have Netflix, with streaming movies and does not seem to slow it appreciatedly. The ADSL box is on the Park property so only short runs of copper from each unit to the node.
Yes if you are depending on Wi-Fi in your park you will never want to use Slingbox.
I would be more concerned with the speed at your Canadian home. To use Slingbox you need good up load speeds. Here in Bell Aliant's territory many have FibreOP i.e. fiber right into the home with 50 Meg down and 30 Meg upload. If one had that & 10 Meg at your southern home it should be plenty for slingbox.
If you are staying all winter in one park the above could be an answer, if jumping from park to park through the winter months, probably not a great solution. Television technology delivery is changing very fast and all this stuff we talk about now in a few years will be ancient history.
