North Dakota Campground Help

10 years ago on my way home from Yellowstone I stayed at a campground somewhere along I-94. I am almost certain it was in North Dakota. Across the street from the campground was a very busy railroad line. As a train fan it was great. I am doing the trip again this summer and am trying to remember the name and location of this campground but can't. Can anyone be of any help?

That was the first place that came to my mind. But when Memphisdoug first said in ND, well that threw me off.
  • Thanks for the tip on searching Google maps for campgrounds. The place wasn't much of a campground when we were there so I'm guessing it may have gone under in the past 10 years.

  • Google maps shows rail lines. When looking at North Dakota, type in "campgrounds" in the search box, and it will show where they all are. Follow I-94 to see if you can find one near the RR line, too.
May not get all, but it will help you find most of the available camping areas.

10 years is a long time - it may be gone.
  • LOL - I just discovered my memory is really bad on this. I was looking at photos of the trip and based on the order of the pictures I took the campground had to be somewhere between the arch over I-80 and the Grand Tetons. So that puts it somewhere in western Nebraska or eastern Wyoming. My search continues.
  • That's not it. The campground was much closer to the road that divided it from the train tracks. I think it was a privately owned campground.
  • Medora city camp? nice city camp in big cottonwood trees in a bend of the river, across business loop hwy. from BNSF RR mainline. Quiet yet close.
look at it on google maps.
