I can go anytime and plan on being in the state for 1-2 weeks. When would be the best time? Like wildlife, flowers, and short hikes.

Check spring snow melt caused flooding before you set out. We've even been detoured off US-2 due to the road flooding. ND signage after the ones saying the road was closed was non-existent. Didn't even say which way to leave US-2, north or south. If you get caught in such a mess keep the GPS handy. Next time I intend to use 911 if I get caught without any idea on how to proceed.
